Junior Civitan
Since the inception of Civitan International, Civitan clubs have taken great pride in supporting young people through a multitude of projects and programs. Junior Civitan, the oldest and most successful program of Civitan International, is a community service organization for young people between the ages of twelve and eighteen. Junior Civitan International consists of more than 500 clubs with over 17,000 members in North America, Europe and Africa. Over 500,000 young people are involved in Civitan sponsored activities in any given year. Junior Civitans are committed to improving the world and the lives of those less fortunate than themselves. They improve their schools and communities through service to others. Opportunities for fun and fellowship abound on all levels of Junior Civitan. Clubs hold regular meetings, projects and social activities throughout the year.
Junior Civitans help others, particularly those with developmental disabilities, assist those less fortunate, and promote environmental and drug abuse awareness. Junior Civitans not only help others, but they have a great time doing it. By working together, Junior Civitans learn the importance of teamwork and making friendships that will last a lifetime.
Junior Civitan Creed
I
am a Junior Civitan:
An aware citizen of today,
The standing promise of tomorrow.
I seek to meet the needs of our world,
To be progressive in a world of change
With compassion and understanding for
The values and traditions of the past.
I value the security of knowing
That wherever I am
I will always be within reach
Of a fellow Civitan.
I
dedicate myself
To society and to my fellow man
With a commitment
To make the world a better place.
